Lust for Life

Sound intervention Lust for Life was performed in the framework of the WonderLab exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina. The work consists of two parts: the audio and the video recordings of a performance by a musician with an electric guitar. A 12-seconds guitar sequence from the pop-song Lust for Life by the band Girls was taken as a starting point for further development of the performance structure. In a given time interval the musician performed the melody while moving through the museum space with a video camera installed on the neck of the instrument, thereby mapping the exhibition space. At the same time, the second camera was fixed to the gallery floor, positioned in the direction of the sound “source” – the musician/performer. By using these two video recordings, the interpretation possibilities of a specific event are being examined based on the offered images, which constructed the space narrative from different angles. Work was performed in an empty space without the control of the artist and in the absence of audience.
