DIY Revolution

Digital print, 400 x 300 cm
Public space, Zagreb, Croatia
The work of DIY Revolution primarily refers to cooperation and mutual support between people, which is the basis of the DIY - Do It Yourself philosophy characteristic of the underground and punk scene from the late seventies of the last century. In this case, the entire production of work is the result of the enthusiasm and openness of people who had the ear to pro-bono produce a billboard in a public space in Zagreb. This gesture, as an essential (read: the only) prerequisite for the performance of this work, opens up the question of both artistic and any other position in a time when everything, including activities in the field of culture, is completely market-oriented. If i can't dance i don't wanna be a part of your revolution, is a quote often attributed to the anarcho-feminist Emma Goldman, which has never officially appeared in any of her texts or public appearances and is actually a paraphrase of part of the text from Goldman's autobiography Living My Life, which the activist Jack Freger adapted for a series of T-shirts he made in 1973. By reintroducing this quote into the public space, I am trying to create a platform for countless downloads of this statement, both on a personal and social level. It is enough to look around and realize how polarized the world around us is and that the only thing left is the freedom of choice.
